I Hate Culvers

Especially the one up the street from us! Sure, the food is good, but they can't ever seem to get anything right! Paul went there tonight to get some onion rings to go with the last of the BBQ pork that I made from the pork roast I made this past weekend. He ordered two orders of onion rings and two large diets. As we were eating, Paul asked me if the drinks tasted like regular instead of diet. I thought something wasn't right, but I really couldn't tell. Now as I sit here finishing my drink, I realize it's not diet...as my head is starting swim from the sugar and I'm thirstier now than when I started drinking. The receipt says diet...but it's definitely not diet!

I have a question. Lets say I was a diabetic. I order a large diet pop and they give me a regular. I drink it and go into some sort of diabetic coma because I didn't know it wasn't diet and didn't give myself enough insulin. Can I sue Culvers?

Lucky for them I'm not diabetic. Paul is, though, and he don't need this sugar. Lucky for them he's not on insulin.

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood tonight, but that isn't the first time they have messed up! I could talk about the time Paul took his grilled ham and swiss on rye back because it was so "grilled" that it was practically black and the manager argued with him that rye bread is normally a darker bread. Where do they get these people?

Anyway...I saw this quiz on another blog tonight and thought it was interesting. My boss and I are very strict about grammar and punctuation when we proof and frequently hold meetings for the girls regarding correct grammar. I know they think we're slightly anal about it. Most of the doctors we work for wouldn't know a comma if it hit then in the forehead, so we make it our job to make them look good. (You would be surprised what you don't have to know to make it through medical school.) We take pride in the work that leaves our department.

You Scored an A

You got 10/10 questions correct.

It's pretty obvious that you don't make basic grammatical errors.
If anything, you're annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs.
As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they're only human.
And it's humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes.

Have you ever seen the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves: Why, Commas Really Do Make a Difference by Lynne Truss? It's cute picture book for ages 4-8. It's the kid's version of her bestseller Eats, Shoots & Leaves: A Zero Tolerance Guide to Punctuation. The title comes from the old joke about a panda that misunderstands correct panda behavior after reading a poorly punctuated wildlife guide. It goes like this:
A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.

Get it? Eats...shoots...and leaves instead of eats shoots and leaves.

Okay...so I'm a nerd.

Catching Up

Here are a couple of the most recent RAKs that I have received. I should have posted these a while back, but as usual, I'm behind.

This first card came from Kelly (kherrick on SCS). Check out her blog at Kelly's Craft Corner. She did one of the RAK challenges that involved taking the first letter of her Zodiac sign (Aries) and matching it up with the first letter of a member's last name...and I am the lucky recipient! I love the clean lines and the colors of her card!

The following card was accompanied a very sweet note from Mary (Breeze7 on SCS). Isn't it beautiful! Check out the Cuttlebug Script background. I didn't even know that existed, and now it's a definite must-have! I actually received this card the same weekend I bought my Cuttlebug! What an inspiration! Mary has a definite knack for knowing what cards to send when!

Thanks so much ladies!!

Must Be Nite-Nite Time

On occasion when I'm heading up to go to bed I'll say to Abby, "Do you wanna go nite-nite with mama?" She'll gather two or three of her toys and by the time I get into bed, I'll hear her coming up the stairs to join me. Occasionally, if it gets to be around 11 p.m. and I'm still on the computer, she'll come into the room with one of her toys and just look at me. Like tonight...

If I don't say anything to her, she'll eventually leave, but I'll hear her carrying her toy around and crying. If I tell her, "Go lie down and mama will be in in a minute," she'll go lie down on her spot at the end of the bed and wait for me.

She just passed by with her toy still in her mouth, but now she has one of my socks to go along with it...which tells me she has been back downstairs and riffling through the laundry room. My socks are the only thing she ever steals. If she gets desperate, like in the summertime when I hardly ever wear socks, she might steal one of her papa's socks. Desperate is the key word here.

She's such a little sweetheart, and I love her more and more every day. I wish I could clone her to have more than one of her running around.

For a Girl Who Doesn't Like Green...

I sure seem to use it a lot. I sorted through my scrap folders a few days ago because I wanted to move them to a different box. I got rid of a lot of my old scraps...tiny pieces and those that I know I won't use because my taste has changed over the years. Looking at some of them got me thinking why I even bought the paper in the first place because it's downright ugly. Anyway, when asked what my favorite color is, I always have a hard time answering. I tend to say "purple," but I don't really think that's true. I really don't have a favorite because there are shades and hues of all colors that I like and don't like. I have learned, though, that if you really want to know your favorite color, take a look at your pile of scrap paper that you've been collecting for years. Going through my pile taught me a few interesting facts about my "favorites:"
  1. My all-time favorite must be any shade of pink/red...actually, the color I reach for most often is rose.
  2. Even though I have said numerous times that I don't like the color green, I pretty much think that's a lie because my green folder is the second thickest after the pink/reds. This tells me that I reach for green quite a bit. I only had one little scrap of mint green, however...you know how I feel about that color! I have to say that I do love both celery and moss green.
  3. I think my least favorite color is yellow. I have very, very few scraps of yellow. That tells me that I either never use it or I use every bit of it, and my lack of yellow cards on here pretty much proves its not the latter. Here is a yellow story for you...back in my younger days two of my friends and I were planning to get an apartment together. Amy and I would talk about how we were going to decorate it. The other friend was a guy and you know he wasn't going to have a hand in that. Anyway, I wanted to decorate the bathroom in yellow...something bright and cheery. I have no idea why...I just had my heart set on a yellow bathroom. Bruce put his foot down with that and said that there is no way he is waking up with a hangover and going into a yellow bathroom. Needless to say, we didn't wind up getting the apartment. I'm actually the one that backed out because something just didn't feel right. It's a good thing too because shortly after that Amy met someone and got married, I met Paul and got married, and Bruce...he's still hanging loose and will probably never ever find himself a wife (I wonder why ). I have no idea why I'm telling you all this...just feel like blabbering I guess.
Now...to get to the point of this whole post...like my new stamp?! Of course, I had to use green!

The layout is this week's sketch on CPS (Card Positioning Systems).

Well, I need to turn in for the night. I need to go find myself a book to read while waiting for mom while she has her surgery tomorrow. She's having that darn stone blasted away for the last time!

PS - Oh, to answer StamperGail's question on her comment on my last post, the "Grade A butt" was butter! I was making brownies for Paul to take to his fantasy football draft, and I was completely out of that wonderful yellow goodness.

Grade A What?!

I sent Paul up to the corner gas station the other day to pick something up. Take a look what he came home with...

Leave it to a man, huh? Didn't know you could buy that at Mobil.

Party On!

Here's my take on Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #17 at her blog Fresh & Fun. I'm barely squeaking by by the skin on my teeth on this. I hope I'm not too late! You would think with the long weekend I could have gotten to it sooner. Nope, not me.

I just noticed I forgot to color the dog's collar. I probably shouldn't point that out, huh? Oh well...pretend it's pink, okay?
